Timber Hawkeye (Buddhist Boot Camp)

Want to know what Buddhist Boot Camp is all about?
After I left the corporate world, I moved to Hawaii and emailed my friends every month to let them know what’s going on in my life. About eight years later, my friend Kim suggested that I share those emails with the world because she found the letters inspirational and figured others would benefit from reading them as well. That’s how Buddhist Boot Camp was born (the letters were first shared on a blog, then a book, and now here).
It turns out that Kim was right! Many people find the simple message refreshing, inspirational, and (even more importantly), motivational.
Motivation is more important because inspiration without action is just entertainment, and my invitation is to go beyond thinking that something is a "good idea" to actually implementing it into our daily lives.
"Don’t try to use what you learn from Buddhism to be a Buddhist, use it to be a better whatever-you-already-are" -Dalai Lama

Despair and Hope
In times of despair, it is important to remember that our current situation is not our final destination. To get through the darkness, I have often had to use the mantra "This is a bruise, not a tattoo." If you find value in these videos, please show your support at www.buddhistbootcamp.com/support

We claim to fully understand what we have only partially experienced, and we dismiss other people's reality as invalid if it contradicts our own. This episode contains a description of an assault that might be triggering for trauma survivors. We are all wounded in ways we don't always understand or even know about. You sometimes can't even see the wound, but you still experience its symptoms: your reactions, aversions, opinions, preferences, and biases, are often indicators of trauma, so don't ignore, escape, deny, or try to numb the sym...
You have changed my life Timber. I met you in 2016ish on your book tour and told you in person, but want to again say it because you are amazing.
Thank you for sharing this. What a great reminder that even with limitations, there's always something we CAN do.
Can i get a one on one session w/ him regarding this issue?
Wow. This is SO powerful. I needed to hear this now, and I'll keep it in mind in the future. Thank you so much for sharing your self (with all your successes and hiccups) with us!! We're in this together, and I really feel this after hearing this one. Namaste!
Thank you so much for this, as I’m getting older, 61 now, I’m encountering challenges every day, like not being able to walk as far as I used to because of arthritis, and I must admit I have felt sorry for myself at times and then felt guilty for feeling that way but this has given me the kick in the butt I badly needed to get back to focusing on what I CAN do 😊
Great content, thank u for posting 🙏🏽
Thank you for sharing and guidance.
Thank you. I have been listening to this repeatedly--
Thank you❤
I enjoy exploring words and their differences, so this podcast was really enjoyable and spurs me to explore these concepts even more.
English not being my first language I appreciate you explaining this soo beautifully. Always open, always learning. I am grateful to & for you 🙏🏻 💓

So interesting, so enlightened and enlightening. The acceptance to analyze, the forgive, to accept, to put yourself in a situation where you can move on. Bravo for your growth and thank you for sharing. You are en your right path and helping us find ours.
Another banger. Thanks Timber
Yes! Ego is not your amigo
❤❤ thank you as always.
I love that tale - it speaks the truth
Thank you Timber. I discovered you on Spotify, where you had been in my suggestions. Am very grateful you were. Will follow you from now on.
Journaling for me has been very helpful to feel less stressed and feel light and free. Idk how or when exactly I started feeling confident to express how I feel inside. Talking to friends, and being in relationships has showed me that it's very difficult for people to truly express themselves. I'm always so grateful that I do have the ability to process my emotions, and take inventory of how I feel. Thank you for sharing the App. I think it's great to find ways to help someone find something that works for them ✨️
100%. Spot on …👌 and living proof this works
I needed to hear this today 🙏
Thank You ❤
Thank You
Perfection is the enemy and not the goal. Perfectly said. I struggle with finding a balance with my inner thoughts. Actually, this morning i did everything in my power to get up, reset, readjust and keep going 💙
how can you stop fighting when your nature is "i don't give up" or "don't tell me who is going to let me, tell me who wil stop me!" Now you know my internal struggle with Buddhism, yet i continue to walk the path.
You are actually perfectly set up for success with that mentality of "I don't give up." Simply direct that level of determination toward peacefulness; the moment you notice you are white knuckling "against" something, loosen your grip and shift perspectives (promote what you love). Use that "I don't give up" mentality to be your own best cheerleader (don't give up on yourself, on your inner-peace, on remaining calm). Having said that, you ARE getting in your own way by saying "it's my nature," as if you have no control over it. I used to say the same thing about "my nature" until I realized our nature is to adapt, adjust, and change, not to remain rigid. Here's a five-minute episode about that: ruclips.net/video/O7dIeXEbMVs/видео.html
Bought the book today reading it while I'm listening to. Started this first message 3/5/2024
If one thing I always look forward to is the beginning of every month. I absolutely love hearing your videos. Thank you for sharing your insight on opening our minds 🦋
Don't have a clue what that would feel like 😔
Fantastic
How super, Cool, thank you for sharing, Awesome 👍
Excellent episode Timber, thank you!
I love these podcasts. This really resonated with me because I totally agree. I have been sober for over 14 years and believe in the practice of prayer and meditation. I try throughout the day to hit the pause button before reacting and I learned this in sobriety. And kindness is key. We never know how we may affect someone else simply by smiling at them on the street or holding a door open for them. Kindness spreads more kindness. Thank you so much!!
I love Timber! Great perspective. I am in long term recovery and I've been told let go or be dragged 💙
This was a great reminder to my day. I'm actually trying to acknowledge my "bad" thoughts and tell myself this is a habit or don't fall into the trap. If that makes any sense. Anyways, I appreciate you always spreading positivity 🙌 & the recommendation of the book. Have a wonderful Friday.
You're the best
Health, happiness, harmony and peace of mind is a form of wealth. It is a form of wealth that some people that are rich with money do not have.
This was very helpful to me as a mother with one child frequently causing me to wonder what he was thinking 😊💗
Thanks again for all you do/ Love all with our hearts so we can get rid of hate.
Thank you so much Timber. Great words. I am trying to be more understanding and loving to my fellow man. It's definitely a struggle at times but I appreciate your reminder to be kind
Love to u!
I so agree with this. I can remember crying at home once - much to my Mum's distress. I remember saying to her 'If I'm not safe to cry at home where am i safe to cry?' She nodded and agreed with me and it opened the door to me being able to talk with her about the bullying i experienced at school. Blessing be upon you, Timber, i had the privilege of meeting in Penzance , UK. My son is doing better now, thanks, in part to your book. Tc x
whenever I listen, I always hear exactly what I need to.
Thank you so much. ❤
Thank you so much Timber for your wisdom and insight. Your authenticity saturates the words you speak.
Beautiful! Namaste! ❤
